So I am definitely jet lagged and been reading The Witch of Potobello, which is a really good read. It's about a spiritual journey and being true to oneself - the costs associated with it.
And then all of a sudden, I received an unexpected email that one of my colleagues recommended me on LinkedIn. This is a guy, who we both admitted that we hated each other when he first joined the company and we had to work together. He still drives me crazy but we work much better together. So I was surprised at this and touched by what he wrote: “A is an exceptional driver for change in a group. She is persistent and results-oriented and is able to build-up a community and drive them to a common goal.”
Last week, another colleague posted this recommendation, which was flattering but also made me laugh about the cats and the egos: "A has a rare talent for "herding cats." In other words, she is able to manage chaos and large egos in order to gain group consensus and move projects forward. She is extremely talented, effective, and results oriented. She is also not afraid to tackle tough issues. In summary, I would highly recommend Ayelet as one most talented individuals that I've had the pleasure of working with during my 19-year career.”
Is this not a lesson of being true to oneself? I am surprised that I have survived in corporate life for almost 8 years now as I am the type of person large organizations usually spit out because I dare say what I think. There are people there who can't stand me but that's quite alright as it is 100% mutual, especially the men with the large egos!
